Lacey Lou's Birthday
Lacey turned 7 this past week and we celebrated her birthday on Sunday. On every one of our pup's birthdays I make them homemade peanut butter cookies and a doggy cake. No sugar of course! I swear they know the smells when its baking in the oven and can't wait to chow down on their birthday treats. Lacey is very special to my husband Ben and I because she was the first furry baby we adopted together. She has been through everything with us...even moved into our first apartment with us. Although, she was a puppy at the time, I regret moving to the 3rd floor because Lacey decided that she wouldn't walk up stairs until she was about 6 months old! And carrying a Great Pyrenees puppy up 3 flights was NOT easy! But that's why we call her Princess. I know some people may think its crazy celebrating a dog's birthday, but they are very special to us and if you have a dog, you understand...they are our children:) I will post a picture of Lacey with her Birthday cake. I got the recipes from the "Three Dog's Bakery" cookbook and I make the same cake for every birthday...its a hit! In fact, I think I may give them another piece right now.

An Apple A Day
You know the saying "An apple a day will keep the doctor away"...I sure hope thats true because Delilah has been eating them nonstop lately. I was making my husband Ben's lunch this morning and went to cut some fruit to package up and Miss Dmae (her nickname) shows up and I know what she's looking for...her sweet fuji apples. Don't get me wrong, she loves all food...especially the "junk food" but I'm happy she's loving apples right now...she can't seem to get enough of them. Apples are very nutritious for your dogs health just like it is for us, but be aware! I always cut the pit and seeds out before feeding her, because the seeds contain cyanide which can be poisoness to dogs and humans! Unfortunately, Cosmo has lost his taste for apples...he used to love them as a puppy. However he loves strawberries and watermelon:) And Lacey, the Princess prefers cupcakes to ANY fruit. Well, I better get to the grocery store today because Delilah has cleaned us out on apples!

This is all new to me
Well, this is my first post and I'm not sure where to start. Its definetely a Newfie life lately in our house. Our baby girl Delilah has been through some health issues the past couple of weeks, but she is gradually getting better. Thank God because we have been very worried for her. She was diagnosed with Immune-medicated hemolytic anemia...which basically means her body eats her red blood cells...pretty crazy but she's on a good amount of medication and things are looking up. A week and a half ago, I was a mess...she needed a blood transfusion and was in the hospital for several days. I'm so grateful to have found amazing specialists in our area who are supposedly the best in Florida. But enough of all this sad stuff! Delilah would want me to tell you how she is loving all the attention and all the extra treats she's been receiving:)
I'm planning on linking some videos on here of the crazy things our dogs are up to. Like the fact that Cosmo honestly thinks he's a lizard hunter. I've thought about starting him an ad for those with lizard infestations;)...he can start paying rent! Also, some videos of the Newfs swimming. If you've never heard of a Newfie, well they are quite obsessed with the water...ever since they were pups digging at their water dish.
On another note, I'm 13 weeks pregnant...so not only do I have 3 giant dogs...I'm starting to think of what my life will be like with a baby and my furry children. So, I will update you all on how it all goes through the pregnancy and so on. This should be fun:/ Right?
Well, that's all for the day. Time to go water the plants...if I can get Delilah's mouth out of the way of the hose!
